“Robin Hood drinks Beer?”

Apparently the hero DOES. Hence, Robin Hood Beer Festival. =D It’s the time where everyone gathers and come for drink/drinks for 4 days. For a price of coz. Nothing comes free. Well, the good thing is there’s about 300+ types of beers. Apart from Beer, there’s Ciders, Perrys and Country Wines. And there’s FOOD. Large burgers, fish and chips, mix nuts, pasteries, and fresh seafood? WoW~

Being a student has its pros. =) Paying the entrance free at a lower price and hence, extra pounds for more drinks sounds good. Well~ not that it matters to me since I’m not an alcoholic person. Nevertheless , I get to taste some of the beer courtesy of Ann. HAha, she has to finish the rest of the glass drink. Mind you, it’s not easy for her to glop 2 glass by herself within 2 hours time? Can’t really help her in case of emergency by getting myself drunk first rite? Ack! I dunt even know how much I can consume anyway.

Lots of people around us when we arrived at 3pm. But the crowd gets lesser after 5pm. Most ppl went away as the sky starts to get dark like us.

Did I mention pastries? Well, apparently Ann loves testing out these. So, pork pies it is then. Yellow stufts on the top? They are pickles. O.olll Turns out to be a edible weird combo. Trust me, choose something like cranberry and you’ll love it. The pork is cold, mind you.

So, wat do I get out from this festival? A trip around the Nottingham Castle itself. Muahahaha~ Such luxury! Since I paid less than the normal entrance free. It’s such a nice compound with lovely gardens around. Can’t really tell wat’s the old remains of the Nottingham Castle apart from the ‘fortress’ walls. Hm… well, there is still remains of the old drainage system and ‘hidden’ tunnels around.

Oh coz, not to forget the Sir "Bloom-it-all" and it's horse, Crusader. =P

4 Weeks in Nottingham (UK)

WEE~ Nottingham isn’t that bad as I first thought. In fact everything here isn’t much different from home . Why? The road the same… the ‘look’ of the land is the same… the smell is the same. So, wat’s the different?

The fact is has 4 seasons? Instead of green, yellow and red trees? Right, Autumm is a lovely season and u’ll get to see the leave changes color and finally shred its leaves. I even have the urge to ‘shake’ a giant tree just to see all its leaves failing down.

Cars? Well.. they kinda prefer Tiara types... I mean student. Can't say about the lecturer though. Tons of them. =p Not that I know much about cars. Public transport? Yeah, they can be nasty ppl if u dunt stop them when u see them. Technically step on the petrol and ZOOM in front of you. O.olll So different from home where they'll be eager to get u despite fully occupied.

What else… Nottingham has Historical buildings? Oh yes. The uni itself has some old buildings. Well, the main ones at least. Hm.. come to think of it, there's the Telfod Bridge and lakeside cave. Cave? Yup, apparently there's one due to erosion years ago. Open to public viewing. Didn't take the picture though. Maybe another day. =D Was there since I had my lunch there. So Romantic~

Cold Weather? Truth to be told, the one thing I missed is THE SUN!!! *ponders on the time at site training*. I ABSOLUTELY hate the windy. IF you ever see a day with the sun out, make sure you poke your head out of the window and see if it’s windy. Trust me. The sun won’t help much if there’s a COLD breeze. O_Olll Drizzling is a small matter here. So, best armed yourself with a cap or something. U can’t really see the raindrops.

Week 4 (1 month Gone)

It's insane. One month? Wo~ I'm starting to understand how time flies when you're working. If there's something challenging to do, it's fast. Nothing? You'll be begging to go home. Wahahaha~

Day 16
First thing in the morning? Copping. Ugh~ those carbon-print drawings are so heavy. And Smelly. Ew~ I'm doing 2 sets... the I realize it's terbalik halfway. O.o Ei~ I hv to take the stapler out and use the giant stapler? Begins to doubt I dun't hv the energy to staple it. My instinct was right,. Lucky, one of the male colleagues was beside so asked for his help. Wahahaha~ Considered task completed although not done entirely by me.

After that, another phone call made for my previous week task. Suppose to call up some company and get some of their staffs name. Apparently, there's this operator who is insufficient. Dunno... but somehow, has a feeling, he hated his job. Been calling 2 days and... argh! No answer?

Back to Copping. Another set of drawings though. Ah~ This time the normal one. Then, back to study till home sweet home~

Day 17
Ei? Was drag upstairs first thing in the morning. I just finish making my morning drink and I've got work? Before that, make the stupid phone call again. Finally!~ finished my task. Then back to upstairs.

Oh, apparently, Mentor has meeting so, gotta help him print. =) Only once but 2 volume. The hard part? Have to print one by one. Coz, there's B&W and Colour pages. Was also given the opportunity to read the slope failure report. But then, I didn't get to. Barely start on 2nd Volume when by lunch came...

Immediately continue after lunch. Hv a feeling gotta finish before Mentor returns. Just barely finish checking my printing when Mentor appear. Next... help Secs photocopy each volume to 3 copies. She'll use the downstair printer for B&W while I'll use the top for Colour. Took us 2 hours on that. Then Bind bind bind~ Managed to finish everything but was 5 minutes late 'after work' time. (-_-)lll Was supposed to give to ppl before that. Either way, Mentor thanked us. =) Pleasant guy who thanks ppl for a hard work. Like that~

Argh. Miss my change in reading the slope failure report. Sigh~

Day 18
Back to reading for 30minutes before being summon to photostate? Ok... 8 sets. Oh dear... at least all B&W so, only 1 printer then. But then, 8 sets doesn't mean i can do that all in 1 go. This is wat happens when u hv a 5-in one printer. HAha~ hv to let others to fax and copy also. Managed to finish everything in 2 hours time.

Next obstacle? I just realize my task 'supervisor' didn't leave any message to the Secs. I was only told to print and bind. It was then, I realize there are alot of methods in binding. Apparently, using the normal black comb, the wire comb and even stapling is considered "Binding". (*_*) Aiyoh... plus I couldn't find her. By the time I did, it's already lunch time. So, I am to look for her after that so she'll teach me to bind. Then,

LS: "How izzit? Finished?"
Me: (O.o) "Er, you're suppose to tell me how to bind?"
LS: (O.O) I forgot!
Me: AHehe~ (-_-)lll

Should hv finished in time, all 8 sets... if I didn't made a mistake on the final 2 sets. NO~

Day 19
Gaji day? Yup! But then, it's still a busy day. Since I made a mistake, I hv to re-print and bind 2 sets of documents. All by myself. Kinda proud of it... despite it being not in my job description. Haha~ One of my supervisor was surprised y I'm doing that job. Apparently, those documents were meant to be send to proper shops for binding instead of doing them in the office. (O-0)lll Felt cheated for a moment then. But, oh well, since nothing to do, nevermind lah~

That's only in the morning. Evening? Yeah, got drag to do another binding with Sec. Just realize, how slow I can be as the binding comb gets smaller in size. Ah, really not used to these jobs yet. I can't complain much since these jobs are supposed to be learned. Can't expect the Secs. to help all the time. They got their other jobs too. =) Plus, I've seen some of the higher Seniors doing binding b4~

Uncle Boss lend me a small booklet. Nothing much but he said "At least u know how a water storage tank looks like inside. Something u can write in the log book." (>_<) Aw~ so nice of him. Yeah, got to read about the new product and understand the structure of one.

Day 20
Nothing else to do, so, back to my book. Then, my temporary neighbor "Abang Senior" asked if I'm bored reading the book all the time. I told him that I'm nothing else to do. He questioned my y I'm not using the comp in front of me? Well, technically, the comp still belongs to Uncle Boss so... =p He gave up and ask me to turn on the comp. He'll be teaching me to use computer software for RC design. YEAH!~

Abang Senior is a nice guy. As quote "Passing down the knowledge". So sweet. ^^ Turns out he's been teaching alot of ppl before since he's intern there for quite some time already. Oh, first-hand on RC design using IntelliCAD. Haha~ I still can't understand fully but the general idea is there. Can be dizzy trying to rmb all the shortcut key. =) But all this hard work will be good in 4th Year. Haha~ provided I still rmb how. The only downside is I gotta finish it by Mon coz he's going back to uni next week. =(

End of foodball fever soon. Too bad, the office gonna be quiet again. Gonna miss the score shouting. Wahahaha~

Week 3

Day 11-15

There's nothing to talk about for this whole week. Well... wat I've been doing? Read, read and re-read 4 books. An average of 2 books per day. Can't do anything since Uncle Boss and Senior are out-station. And Grandpa Boss is busy too. @_@ In the end, I end up writing notes in my mini-notebook for each of them. Yeah... that's wat I'll be putting in my log book.

In short, it's "Back to School for me"~

Well, for entertaining purpose... during lunch break with my colleagues.

A: Eh, tau ke. $2 tu... boleh cause cancer.
B: Ei? Mengapa pula?
A: Tu belakang satellite ada micro-wave~

(-_-)lll Literally choke on my food.

Hm, there is alot more jokes but I'm afraid they can be 'yellow'. Never cease to amaze me how my 'neighbour' can twist a person's word to the other direction. =p

2nd Week

Day 6
The first thing I did, was switch on d computer and continue on my hydrographs. Well, took me a great an hour to finally be satisfied with my work. Just when I'm about to report to my senior on this he came down. Apparently Uncle Boss (D comp's owner) is there too.

Oh~ first time was immediately told that I've got work as soon as I ask. Wee rite? Turns out that I hv to write a progress report on the hydrographs done. Nah, I dunt hv to explain those stufts, just paste d graphs and put some tables. The catch? I've to redo all my graphs again. *screams* And senior is gonna be out for the rest of the day. Spent d whole half day drowning in Excell. Have to reject helping my colleague.

Day 7
Switch on the comp again and continue modifying the graphs. The pain to redo-ing for 2 hours. After that, back to my Analysis again. Then, I end up doing "Cut & Paste" for the rest of the day. How did this happen?

I just realize how tough life would be without secretaries. Engineers will hv a hard time filing all the projects and drawing. Plus, papers gonna be wasted. The "Cut & Paste" is one of their job. Literally, I hv to re-label all the drawings since there was a mistake. Imagine 10 copies with 200pages. (-_-)lll

Not to mention, was 'kick' out of my desk since someone else hv to use d PC. Priority to customer as usual. =p

Day 8
"Cut & Paste" now changes to "Chop". Which reminds me...

Grandpa Boss: "Wat are you doing?"
Me: "Chopping" *Action=Chop*
Grandpa Boss: "Okay... (-_-lll)

Somehow, I find myself giving him heart attacks in a strange way. Each time I reply him, he has that 'You're Weird' look. (-_-lll)

Then, back to Anaysis. Since I had that confused look in my face, Senior offered my another book dated 1985. Quite helpful except one part. Uncle Boss happened to see my blur look that instance. Hence, another book handed to me. (-_-lll) It has yellow papers + typewriter style fonts. Shows just how old it is.

Day 9
Big mistakes... all d "Cut and Paste". No good. Hence, Re-paste. Another half day gone with my work checked again by my colleagues. I feel so bad since everyone who pass by was wondering why we're doing the same thing again. Really sorry...

After day, I'm d "Binding" lady. 10 copies done. It is a great wonder how d photostats lady can bind so fast when I can't even do that after 10 copies. Wahahaha~

Day 10
Whole day Analysis... apart from being temporary printing girl for Grandpa Boss. Apparently, he knows I'm free enough to help him photostat his articles. It's a good thing that the printer is the same as the one in Uni. Wahahaha~ I dunt hv to ask for help. However,

Grandpa Boss: "Btw, wat's yr name?"
Me: "TT"
Grandpa Boos: (o_O)

He has that "HAH?" look in his face. I guess he was expecting my surname only instead of my given name. I dunno. Always make me wonder if I'm saying the right thing to him.

End of 1st Week

Day 4

Check in office slightly earlier then left to do my beloved "Green Card". The whole process took only hours. Next step? Attend a workshop two weeks later. The, back to office. Yes, did end up staring into space for an hour before real work came.

Horror to me!~ Analysis. @_@ There goes the rest of my day. Check here check there change this change that. All the manual calculations with calculations sheets. Yup, so much like d design project. Except... with a few more details. Wahahaha~

Day 5
Continuation of calculation for an hour before asked to do a more prioritized work. Yup, this time, hydrographs. "Wah, so pro?" I was told by one of my colleagues. Hehe~ (-_-)lll That apart from commenting on the computer on my table. U see, I originally dunt hv one on my desk. So, where did this pop out from? It belongs to one of d Boss. Ya... he lend me his. Coz it's either his chair + table+ room or just his computer. Wahahaha~ Everything moved within 5 minutes. Feeling awkward. Must take care of it.

Oh, was given d opportunity to join a short demo on 2 softwares. Kinda weird when I'm the only female again. But then, oh~ wonderful programmes that will make our life easier. Of coz, at a price. Hehe~

Since I'm so caught up in my graphs, the perfect me actually wanted to OT to finish the graphs. Too bad, not possible since I can't leave or enter the office alone. Zanendesu~

First 3 days

Day 1
Short Briefing on wat I'll be doing. Ah, suppose to go to site but since i wore sandals... so whole day gonna be at office. Hence, first thing, help out the secretarial department. Record incoming documents to the office, aka, faxes, e-mail, post etc. But the fun has yet to begun... for the next 3 hours, I spend my time Superseeding papers. WAhahaha~ in order words. Sorting out recyclable papers. Yup~ =p

After lunch, I swapped job with another intern. Think she's doing business course. Reason? She didn't want to do it. HAH? The task was simple. Sort the documents according to their job numbers in ascending order. Easy? Yes... try doing that for 30minutes? @_@ My mind can't register any number anymore. Worst, at one point, I end up forgetting which documents I have sort out already. Matai~ D secretarial ladies were laughing at poor me.

But bad news arrive after lunch. After much concern over getting my site booths, I was kindly reminded to bring my "Green Card". U wont believe my horror when i hard those words. O_O My brain was practically screaming "NO~". Hence, no more site until I apply and get my card. ARGH~

Oh well, I chear up at d final hour. Yes, finally civil work. But they are for tmr. Oh, I've my own desk on the lower floor. Yeah, there's the top and lower floor.

Day 2
Given RL and readings, plot out the cross-section of the rivers. Oh~ reminds me of surveying and environment fluid very much. Although... d drawings look weird. Not exactly perfect. =p Finish it and i found myself staring into space. Aiyah... nothing to do. Then lunch. Upon return, 'kepo' vit my d collegues at Miss Kaamatan. There was alot of nice pictures on d newspaper article. Talk was cut short when d mentor came and called me up to his office.

Sweet~ All d sudden I hv d happy feeling of 'naik pangkat'. Since... all d engineers r upstairs along vit d equipments. Oh~ can't describe it~ Feeling so happy despite only told to help him type a report. Wahaha~ just type accordingly. Did attempt to drag longer in the office by taking my time memorizing the BoQ but... can't stay too long since someone else's there. After that. Spent d next 2 hrs writing my log book.

Then I hv a back-ache for the rest of d day. Now, I know how orang tua feels like. (glares at Ann)

Day 3
Deciding that it's too early for anyone to give me work, I took 2 magz from d customer corner. Sadly, got caught by one of d boss. Oops~ so, was sent out of office to watch a presentation by another boss. >_< Argh~ was literally quote "since you ARE bored in d office."

Oh~ engineer presentation can be interesting. Yeah~ tell u all d problems in site and how they tackle it. So unlike d site visits I'm been to a uni. Wat's surprising was d amount of ppl there. Ok, I was only expecting 10ppl most from gov. Then, 40ppl? @_@ 3 cameras? Plus, I'm d only Chinese Female engineer there~ Oh well. At least, d food is nice. Yes, delicious and it's FOC~

Upon return, called upstairs again. This time to follow up on my previous work learning a new software in d process. With the river cross-section drawn, this time, I've to label them into 3 sections namely bank, bed and floodplain. This is to calculate the roughness of the surface (Manning's n), hence d influence on the river flow itself. Then find its upper and lower boundary based on actual data. Heard that this will be taught next year. Muahaha~ Advantage~

Doing the jobs fast is a good sign but... "So fast finish? Tmr u dun't hv any work wo~" Alamak.
